Transformation, Not Information
A 2007 report by the Associated Press showed that while the federal government spent $1 billion on education-based programs, of the 57 programs studied, 54 had no impact on healthy eating habits and the other 3 had no impact whatsoever on the body mass index (BMI) of the children in the program. Most school or community based weight loss initiatives are geared to providing information about healthy eating and exercise or toward limiting the choices provided to force a healthy decision. Wellspring applauds these efforts happening around the USA - but they are too little, too late to help students already struggling with their weight.
While learning about healthy choices and eating healthy foods is important, without a comprehensive and intensive program like Wellspring to change behaviors, permanent weight loss does not occur. Wellspring Fit Clubs recognize that the world is full of unhealthy choices, so we teach participants healthy diet and fitness options, and then let them make the choice.

Fit Club participants are shown how a low-fat diet, 10,000 steps per day, and lifestyle change can transform their bodies and their lives. Participants see the differences physically and feel the differences in mood, outlook, confidence, and self-esteem that come with this weight loss. They "live" the healthy lifestyle, reap its benefits, and work to continue it.
