Fit Clubs

Wellspring operates two community program models:
1. After-School Programs
2. Fit Clubs

Fit Clubs

Wellspring Fit Clubs are Wellspring after school programs delivered with local partners, using the Wellspring curriculum, and with clinical direction from Wellspring.

An example of a community partner is KIPP, the country’s leading organization of charter schools.  KIPP’s Houston campus is Wellspring’s community partner for our Houston Fit Club.

Community partners (such as school districts and not-for-profit organizations) determine the location and provide a program manager to work with a group of 10-20 students two to four afternoons each week. Wellspring trains the program manager, provides the curriculum, provides equipment (self-monitoring journals, Calorie Kings, pedometers, textbooks) to participating students and families, and delivers an intensive orientation at the start of each four-month session.

Then two afternoons each week, a Wellspring therapist (“behavioral coach”) runs cognitive-behavioral therapy and nutrition/culinary training sessions for participating students. Other activities (sports, personal training, fitness classes) occur two to four afternoons each week and are led by the program manager.

Because Fit Clubs are a true partnership between Wellspring and the community partner, the cost per student is very affordable; Wellspring Fit Clubs are the most effective and affordable weight loss programs currently operating in communities across the country.

If your organization is interested in establishing the most effective weight loss program for youth in your community, we would be pleased to speak with you about partnering to establish a Wellspring Fit Club.
