Making a Difference in Your Community
Wellspring Fit Clubs are a partnership between Wellspring and select:
- Schools
- Local government
- Community organizations
- Faith-based organizations
- Healthcare providers
- Not-for-profit organizations
- Corporations
These institutions, led by forward-thinking individuals who want to address the obesity epidemic head-on and provide an effective treatment option for local children, are called Community Partners.
The Community Partner determines the location and provides a program director to work with a group of 10-60 students two to four afternoons each week. Wellspring trains the Program Director, provides the curriculum and equipment (self-monitoring journals, Calorie Kings, pedometers, textbooks) to participating students and parents. Then the Community Partner manages activities, while Wellspring delivers all educational and therapeutic components. Wellspring also provides an intensive family orientation and workshop at the start of each four-month session.
From city mayors, not-for-profits, local physicians, school districts, charter schools, YMCAs, and hospitals, Wellspring has worked with varied Community Partners in order to establish Fit Clubs that meet the fitness and weight loss needs of the local community.
